Central Physical Therapy:
Expansion and New Features
For the past three decades, Physical Therapist Helen Balzli has served patients in and around Central with great enthusiasm. Co-owner Tom Coplin brings his own business experience, having operated more than seven physical therapy clinics at once prior to this endeavor. Over 300 doctors refer their patients to Central Physical Therapy. Together, they have nearly completed a $9.5 million dollar expansion of Central Physical Therapy to include the most features anywhere outside of Baton Rouge.
Central Physical Therapy clinic will now feature: unweighted walking for wheelchair bound patients, a concussion program, a geriatric fall prevention program, aquatics, dry needling, TRX training and Pilates.
CPT also provides a workSTEPSprogram for Workforce Development. The program offers job analysis and work site assessment as well as functional employment testing and continued education training. More information can be found here.
Central Physical Therapy will host their grand opening June 17th. Each staff member will perform their specialty for the public to walk around and ask questions. Check out their website for more information.
With the only physical therapy program in the Baton Rouge area that is “concussion certified” – meaning that the severity of a concussion can be determined along with the possibility of rehabilitation – Central Physical Therapy becomes a destination clinic. CPT gives their concussion patients cognitive tests to identify which part of the brain is affected and aid in the prevention of a second concussion.
The Geriatric Fall Prevention program – which Medicare covers - includes various balance testing, strengthening and flexibility. Perhaps the most exciting feature addition is the aquatics program. The pool includes two fast lanes for controlled exercise and a six foot deep section for treading water and other exercises. CPT also features two new fitness programs: TRX training and Pilates. Helen especially loves the Pilates.
