Groundbreaking Set for The Settlement on Shoe Creek in Central

Event marks the second mixed-use residential/commercial community to break ground in Baton Rouge this year.

(Baton Rouge) - C.J. Brown REALTORS announced that the groundbreaking ceremony for The Settlement on Shoe Creek will be held Tuesday, October 25 at 10:30 AM at 10149 Sullivan Rd in Central.

The premier lifestyle community will consist of 479 single-family homes, 250 multi-family homes, a 100-unit assisted living facility, and 100,000+ square feet of commercial/retail space.  It will also feature neighborhood parks, walking/biking trails, retail stores, dining, offices, and a Town Square where events will be held open to the public. C.J. Brown, a subsidiary of Latter & Blum Inc., has been chosen as the listing broker for the development.

The Settlement on Shoe Creek is the second major development by Southern Lifestyle Development in the Greater Baton Rouge market in the past two years. The developer’s first project in Greater Baton Rouge, Conway (located in Gonzales) broke ground in May.  Seventy-five percent of Conway’s Phase 1 lots have already been pre-sold.

“We are very excited to break ground on the Settlement on Shoe Creek and to be part of Central’s rebirth after the flooding experienced there this summer. The resilience of this community is evident, and Shoe Creek presents an opportunity for continued progress. We are confident that the new retail and commercial space at Shoe Creek will be an economic boon for Central, and the development as a whole will be something the community can be proud of,” stated Prescott Bailey, Area President of Southern Lifestyle Development.

“We are very pleased to be involved in bringing this great community to the Greater Baton Rouge market. The Settlement on Shoe Creek is going to be a top-notch development, offering the lifestyle amenities our clients want. I look forward to continuing our successful working relationship with Southern Lifestyle Development,” stated Chairman and CEO of Latter & Blum Inc., Robert Merrick.

“This groundbreaking is great news for our Agents and clients alike. Our large, regional footprint of operations from the Mississippi Gulf Coast through Houston, Texas allows us to assist more families moving to the region. Greater Baton Rouge is expected to sustain strong buyer demand in the coming years, and our Agents are prepared to provide the best service possible,” stated President of Latter & Blum Inc., Richard Haase.
